Holiday Travel Hacks

Christmas tree lights twinkling out of focus.

Whether you’re heading home for the holidays or packing your bags to explore a new place, traveling during the holiday season can be challenging–not to mention, extremely stressful. But don’t stress, that’s what I’m here for! I’ve compiled a list of a few tips and tricks to help you make the best of your time traveling.

Chances are, you’re going to end up at the airport this holiday season. I know what you’re thinking: “Courtnie, airports during the holidays?! Long lines, crowded terminals and expensive tickets… no thank you!” Hear me out. Preparation is key.

Utilize Airport Lounges

Even if you don’t frequent airport lounges, it is the best option to avoid the holiday rush of airports. Who wouldn’t want to enjoy Wi-Fi, booze and food while waiting for their flight? One of my favorite apps is Lounge Buddy. With this app, you can purchase instant lounge access in a second. Think of it as a little gift to yourself!

Download the Airplane Company App

One of the most important things to pack when traveling by plane is your boarding pass. But, more often than not, it’s one of the more important things that are forgotten at home. Having your boarding pass right on your phone through your airplane company’s app is a convenience that we are #blessed to have. It’s one less physical thing you have to worry about remembering.

Plus, you can use the app to check-in to your flight, stay up to date on gate changes and flight status, and a lot of the time, see a map of the terminal.

Buy your loved ones experiences, not presents…

I’m sure you get tired of me telling you to travel light, but it seriously is one of my best travel tips–especially during the holidays. Instead of packing your loved ones gifts to lug all over the airport with you, buy them experiences at your destination. You can purchase excursions such as a wine tour or swimming with dolphins–the options are endless! I know some of you won’t listen to me, so if you do decide to travel with physical gifts, save the wrapping for when you arrive at your destination!

Now when it comes to packing.

I know you have seen my post about packing, but I couldn’t let you head off on your holiday travels without some important reminders.

  • Earbuds – you never know if the passenger next to you on the plane will be annoying or not.

  • Book – save your phone battery and hit the books.

  • Portable charger – if you really can’t separate from your phone, a portable charger will be your lifesaver!

Do you have any favorite holiday travel tips? Send me a message, I’d love to hear them!
