What Are The Best Wedding Venues In Mexico City?

Destination weddings have gained immense popularity in recent years, and when it comes to choosing an enchanting location, Mexico City stands out as a top choice. Known for its vibrant culture, rich history, and stunning landscapes, it offers a perfect backdrop for your dream wedding. Keep reading below as we share with you why Mexico in general is a favorite for many destination wedding couples and what all you need to know to get married there along with a few of our favorite venues in Mexico City.

Why Mexico City is the perfect choice for a Destination Wedding?

Mexico has long been a preferred destination for couples seeking a unique and unforgettable wedding experience. We think of Mexico City specifically because:

  1. The Beauty: Mexico City, in particular, offers a blend of urban sophistication and natural beauty that is hard to match.

  2. Rich Culture: Mexico City is the center of Mexican culture. It has a vibrant culture, colorful traditions, and warm hospitality making it an inviting place for weddings. Incorporate local food and customs into your celebration for a truly immersive experience.

  3. Accessibility: With numerous international airports and well-developed tourism infrastructure, Mexico City is easily accessible for guests traveling from around the world. We focus specifically on US travelers so cities like Dallas, Miami, Phoenix, LA, Charlotte, NYC, and Chicago to name a few all fly directly to Mexico City and will have you there in less than four hours.

  4. Affordability: Even though Mexico City is one of the more expensive Mexican cities it is still considered more affordable than major US cities. This offers more affordable wedding options, allowing couples to have a luxurious wedding without breaking the bank.

What Do You Need to Get Married in Mexico?

Before you can say "I do" in Mexico, it's important to understand the legal requirements:

  1. Residency: Typically, you don't need to be a Mexican resident to get married in Mexico. However, specific requirements may vary by state, so it's advisable to check with local authorities.

  2. Documentation: You'll need to provide a valid passport, a tourist card (issued upon arrival), and a blood test, which is often required within a certain timeframe before the wedding.

  3. Witnesses: Mexico requires four witnesses who are 18 years or older to be present at the ceremony. Some venues may provide witnesses for you.

  4. Legal Ceremony: Ensure your wedding ceremony is legally binding by having a registered officiant preside over it.

  5. Marriage License: Following the ceremony, you'll receive a marriage certificate, which will need to be apostilled and translated for it to be recognized in your home country.

What Are Mexico City's Best Wedding Venues?

Now that you're familiar with why Mexico City is a top-notch wedding destination and the legal requirements, let's explore the best wedding venues the city has to offer. We will focus mostly on Mexico City venues but I must say a few hours north, the beautiful San Miguel de Allende offers even more amazing venues so keep that in your mind when considering the best location for your destination wedding.

Let’s dive in!

1. Hacienda de los Morales

Hacienda de los Morales, a historical gem nestled in Mexico City, boasts lush gardens and elegant ballrooms, making it a perfect choice for your dream wedding. Expect to spend anywhere from $15,000 to $25,000 depending on how many people you are expecting. They have a huge garden that is stunning.

For couples seeking unparalleled luxury, the Four Seasons Hotel Mexico City is an ideal choice. With stunning city views and exceptional service, this five-star hotel provides an opulent backdrop for your wedding. From rooftop ceremonies to elegant ballroom receptions, your special day will be nothing short of extraordinary. This venue will cost you anywhere from $30,000-$100,000 depending on what all you want and need for your special day. It is the Four Seasons so don’t look here for any deals.

3. Proyectos Publicos: General Prim

This residence is one of the most historical venues in Mexico City. It was restored and brought back to life as an event venue in 2014. It is very elegant and is located in the up-and-coming Juarez neighborhood. We say it has lots of personality and is not just your standard hotel venue. It has large outdoor patios, checker-tiled floors, and unique spaces that highlight the original architecture. This venue is ideal for around 100-250 guests. It’s probably our favorite on the list. You could literally have all of your wedding events right on the property since there are three different spaces you can rent. This venue is great for the high-end couple looking to make a splash.

4. Centro Cultural Tudor

This venue is the old Anglican Cathedral that now operates as an event space. We like this wedding venue for those couples who are partying with a crowd meaning over 100 guests. This place can be stretched and filled up with literally anything you can imagine. We recommend reaching out to Lorda Events and letting their team transform this space for you.

5. Casa Lamm

Casa Lamm, a cultural center in Mexico City, offers a unique and artistic setting for your wedding. The venue features a charming garden and contemporary art, creating a blend of culture and romance that's perfect for couples seeking something out of the ordinary. Say "I do" surrounded by creativity and beauty. A wedding here averages about $10,000 but remember all of this is based on the season you choose to get married in, your total overall guest count, and food + beverage. We didn’t mention decor or florals.

6. Quinta Real

Quinta Real, is a luxury property and part of the Quinta Real Hotels Collection. This specific Mexico City hotel chain is a former convent-turned boutique hotel, that offers a romantic courtyard and exceptional service for your special day. This venue blends history and luxury seamlessly, providing a tranquil oasis in the heart of Mexico City.

  • Average wedding cost: from $12,000 to $20,000.

7. Casa de la Bola ( This picture doesn’t do it justice)

Casa de la Bola is a 16th-century building located in the neighborhood of Tacubaya. This is one of the oldest parts of the city. This venue is a unique wedding space, boasting beautiful gardens. If you are a true romantic you are sure to fall in love. The venue's distinctive charm and historic significance make it a captivating setting for your wedding. I would say Casa de la Bola definitely makes a statement. Do you remember the movie Great Expectations? That movie describes this venue perfectly. Garden on Garden on Gardens.

10. Rosewood Mexico City ( OPENING IN 2025)

Positioned in the heart of the vibrant capital, Rosewood Mexico City is conveniently located in the flourishing Polanco district within walking distance of the renowned luxury shopping district. In the meantime, weddings at Rosewood San Miguel de Allende are flawless and the food is exquisite. Expect the average wedding to cost somewhere between $35,000 and $65,000.

For bonuses, we are throwing in a few more spaces you might like.

****You should take a look at Sobremesa a culinary school that also rents two separate homes so for those looking for a smaller intimate venue, this may be a good choice. I would say no more than 75 guests.

****Casa Pedregal, a museum/home which is in the Pedregal neighborhood of Mexico City.

**** Monumental House Emilio El Indio a museum that resembles a medieval fortress can host events for up to 300 people and is pretty close to the airport.

Another wedding planning team we would recommend is Lum Eventos. They can make your fairy-tale wedding come true while our team can make sure both you and your guests get there, and schedule plenty of unique experiences for them while there.
