Trending Locations You Need to Visit in 2018

A new year means it’s time to make some new resolutions. Some common ones are going to the gym, eating healthier and traveling more. I can’t help you with the gym or eating healthy, but I can help you travel more!

Traveling and taking time off is proven to decrease stress, improve social-ties and help nourish a love of life-long learning. So, who says traveling can’t be healthy for your mind? I’ve rounded up some of the trending locations to visit in 2018. From classic favorites to emerging destinations, 2018 is the year you take the leap and travel more. You deserve some time off, exploring new places is the perfect way to spend it!

Havana, Cuba

Old cars parked on the street in front of colorful buildings in Havana, Cuba.

Since Cuba opened its borders to Americans, tourism has been booming. The old, historic feel for this place is what draws tourists to the island. From the classic 1950’s cars to the authentic culture, there’s so much to see and do here. Live like a local and gather at the Malecon at sunset to socialize. This has been a tradition among locals to talk and drink here – a much cheaper way to socialize. Grab some mojitos, cigars and immerse yourself in this historic city.

Cape Town, South Africa

The city of Cape Town sprawls out towards the horizon in arms of the mountains.

Did you get engaged over the holidays? Consider spending your honeymoon in Cape Town! With a rich art scene, cuisine that all foodies would love and a diverse wine selection, this destination has been popular amongst newlyweds. People have been flocking to South Africa to experience the stunning mountain and beach views.  Most people who visit the city say seeing Table Mountain, Camps Bay and Boulders Beach are a must!

Reykjavik, Iceland

Reykjavik's candy-coloured buildings and lively squares.

It seems like this location has been on every bloggers Instagram recently.  This might be one of my favorite trending locations. Dancing northern lights, otherworldly landscapes and the endless photo ops move this location to the top of my list. The nightlife, music festivals and cuisine make this place ideal for young or solo travelers. The popular Blue Lagoon is a magical experience for those who venture to immerse themselves in the azure-colored water. It’s said to have over 700,000 visitors a year!

Seville, Spain

Seville's magnificent old buildings.

Oh, Spain! This place truly is magical. Most people flock to Barcelona or Madrid when visiting Spain; however, some of the most beautiful sights to see can be found in Seville. Brush up on your Spanish before visiting. This location isn’t a large tourist trap, so you’re going to find less English speakers here. Seville is famous for its tapas and flamenco. Flamenco is a show that incorporates dancing, singing and guitar in an intimate show and can often be found nightly in Seville. The architecture in Seville is world-renowned. Some of the best places to explore the unique architecture is the Plaza de Espana and Metropol Parasol.

Oslo, Norway

Norway's capital looking charmingly Scandinavian from the bow of a tour boat.

Norway isn’t the first place for many when thinking of exotic getaways. With its vibrant art scene, Nordic food and its stunning natural surroundings, what’s not to love? Any visit to Oslo should include a stop at the numerous museums, coffee shops and restaurants that the city has to offer. One of the world’s oldest and largest open-air museum is the Norwegian Folk Museum – worth a stop!

Cayman Islands

Looking down from a helicopter at the blue waters and lush green forests of the Cayman Islands.

Don’t look past this classic vacation location. There is so much to see on this small island… ever swam with dolphins, jet skied in the ocean or visited a famous turtle farm in one day? That can all be done in Cayman. Hang out with the locals at Rum Point, where you don’t have to fight for a bar stool or beach chair. Relax on 7 Mile Beach with a rum punch in hand and enjoy your time off.

Asheville, NC

Smoky mountains and orange skies in rugged Asheville, NC.

This destination is one of my favorite places for a girl’s trip or a romantic getaway! The unique breweries, shopping opportunities and hikes/waterfalls are perfect for a long weekend. Visit the Biltmore Estate to see the crown jewel of Asheville architecture or spend an afternoon restaurant hopping to experience the local cuisine. This town is so eclectic and incomparable, it had to be included on the list of trending locations to visit.

I hope these locations inspire you to accomplish some of your resolutions, leave your comfort zone and TRAVEL MORE!
