Real Destination Weddings: Jenny & Jason

When Jennifer and Jason decided to marry, they knew they wanted something truly special. This destination wedding would bring their family and friends together for an unforgettable celebration.

The couple chose the beautiful Finest Resort in Playa Mujeres, Mexico, for its boutique feel, family-friendly atmosphere, and incredible food. Surrounded by 50 loved ones, Jennifer and Jason experienced a wedding that exceeded their expectations in every way.

We had the chance to catch up with the couple and hear more about their magical wedding day and the planning journey that led them there.

Why Did You Choose The Finest Resort in Playa Mujeres?

"We were looking for a resort that offered a boutique experience, had stunning wedding venue options, and was also family-friendly. Our wedding had mostly adults, but we needed a place where families could feel comfortable too. The Finest Resort checked all our boxes, especially with its amazing food and all-inclusive experience. It truly delivered on everything we were looking for!"

What Was Your Favorite Part of the Destination Wedding?

"The wedding ceremony and reception were definitely the highlights. We’ve never felt more loved and supported in our relationship than we did that evening. Having all of our friends and family together for four days brought everyone closer, and it all culminated in one huge celebration on our wedding day."

What Stood Out About the Destination? Did You Do Any Excursions?

"We loved the location of the resort—it was only about 30 to 45 minutes from the airport, which made it convenient for our guests. Playa Mujeres is also tucked away, making it quieter and more peaceful. We’d definitely recommend taking the ferry to Isla Mujeres for a fun day trip."

How Did Working with TravelBash Make Wedding Planning Easier?

"Where do we even start? Planning a destination wedding felt overwhelming at first, especially when it came to choosing a venue. Courtnie and her team really listened to our wish list and put together a shortlist of incredible resorts. They even helped us plan scouting trips to see them in person! But the biggest lifesaver was not having to field endless questions from relatives who weren’t used to international travel or friends asking for resort details like pool hours—yes, that really happened! And when it came to planning the honeymoon, Courtnie did everything. She took care of all the details, which was a huge relief."

What Advice Do You Have for Couples Planning a Destination Wedding?

"Our biggest advice is to embrace the idea that this is a rare opportunity to have all your closest friends and family together for several days. We kept thinking, ‘When else in our lives will we have everyone we love in one place for four straight days?’ That connection was really important to us, so we used the resort to plan small daily events to help everyone get to know each other better. For example, we hosted a welcome cocktail hour on the beach deck and handed out ‘senior superlative’ awards to our guests! It was a fun way for everyone to laugh and share stories about why each person is so special to us. Priya Parker’s book The Art of Gathering really helped us with ideas on how to create meaningful connections during our wedding week."

Jennifer and Jason’s wedding at The Finest Resort Playa Mujeres was the perfect mix of intimacy, connection, and celebration. Their experience is a reminder that destination weddings are about more than just the big day—they’re about creating memories that will last a lifetime.
